Realtor Association Announces Winners of

1st Annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest 

PALMDALE, CA. December 20, 2007 – Holiday-minded revelers, wishing to share the spirit of the season, dressed their homes in festive electrical finery, for all to see. Participating in the 1st Annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest, homeowners competed for awards and recognition against four general themes. The event was sponsored by the Greater Antelope Valley Association of REALTORS® (GAVAR) and the Antelope Valley Press. Receiving cash and holiday gift baskets as prizes, the 2007 winners were:

BEST NEIGHBORHOOD . . . Vicki Plunkett, 43936 Clark Ct., Lancaster

MOST BEAUTIFUL . . . Ryan Herman . . . 1818 Ivory Ave., Palmdale

An additional recognition, the JUDGES’ CHOICE, was awarded to Richard Collier, 1443 West Ave. H-8, Lancaster.

Commenting on the event, GAVAR Communications Committee Co-Chair Jill Furtado, shared, “Many local REALTORS participated in the judging. We had an absolute blast and are very pleased with the results. We feel confident that the public will enjoy viewing our choices. Congratulations to all!”

Dana Haycock, lead event organizer, expressed additional thanks to the organizers contributing to the gift baskets. They were: Whole Wheatery, Farmer’s Wife Florist/Quartz Hill, Rancho Raviri Almonds, Fresco II Restaurant, Veterinary Clinic/Quartz Hill, Blue Marlin West Restaurant, Goldfish Japanese Restaurant, The Plant Lady, Hair by Rianna, Carol Hill Photography, Leona Valley Winery, Gordon Elder – CLU, Dr. Christmas, Happy Hayes Gifts, Coach’s Restaurant, and Clint’s Signs.

This year’s Holiday Lighting event is part of GAVAR’s TLC Charitable Giving Fund. Monies raised help purchase teddy bears which are donated to abused or traumatized children attached to several local charities such as The Children’s Center, the Sheriff’s Department and the Fire Department. The program includes elderly patients in nursing homes and those with Alzheimer’s disease and has recently included victims of natural disasters. Some of the charities that have received bears include Ronald McDonald House, the Children’s Miracle Network, LA S.A.V.E.S and Grace Resource Center. The bears are distributed through 22 local charitable agencies. The program has received national recognition from the National Association of REALTORS ®.
